Many employees can look forward to significantly more money from 1 January 2025. The overview shows who will receive how much more pay from next year:
- Railroad workers: the WKÖ and the railroad section of the vida trade union have agreed on a 4.1 percent increase in the collective agreement and actual salaries from 1 December 2024 for the approximately 55,000 employees at Austrian railroad companies. The new minimum wage for 38.5 hours per week will be EUR 2,659.63.
- The food and beverage industry has also reached an agreement, with an increase of 3.65 percent. The wage settlement for commercial dairies, cheese dairies, and the cooperative Raiffeisen dairies is 3.88 percent, and it has been valid since November of this year.
- From 2025, wages will be increased by 0.65% above annual inflation in the IT sector (90,000 employees).
- Employees in the security industry will receive a 4.1 percent increase, and night allowances will increase by up to ten percent. Around 12,700 employees are affected. The basis was inflation of 3.8 percent over the past twelve months.
- Employees in private hospitals will receive an increase of the consumer price index plus 0.45 percent from 2025.
- From 2025, freight forwarding workers will receive a salary increase of 0.6 percent above annual inflation in 2024.
- The new collective agreement for around 20,000 postal workers and apprentices at Austrian Post has been finalized. From July to December, all full-time employees will receive EUR 200 net per month, while part-time employees will receive an aliquot amount. From January 2025, salaries, bonuses, and apprentices’ incomes will be increased by 6.45 percent. Apprentices will receive a monthly cost-of-living bonus of 70 euros between July and December.
- The approximately 120,000 workers in the metal industry will receive a 4.3 percent increase in gross wages as of January 1, 2025. According to the PRO-GE trade union, this actual wage increase corresponded to the rolling inflation of 3.8 percent plus 0.5 percent. As in the metal industry, it was already negotiated last year.
- The minimum wage for cabs and hire cars will be raised to EUR 2,000 from January 2025.
- Trade, crafts, and services: In the coming year, the increase in collective bargaining wages for all groups, apprentices’ salaries, allowances, and travel allowances will be 0.4 percent above the consumer price index (CPI) from November 2023 to October 2024, provided this does not exceed 6.0 percent.
Negotiations are still ongoing in the sectors with the most employees: retail, the social economy, and the public sector.
